Hello! Thank you for your interest in my website. My name is Kevin, and I am a robotics researcher with a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University. My research as part of the Morphable Biorobotics Laboratory has explored hardware methods for controlling soft robots, specifically via the use of magnetic fluids and electropermanent magnets.
I am actively pursuing positions in the robotics industry at this time. I have experience in all phases of the research process, from writing successful grant applications, to managing teams of student researchers, to publishing and presenting work in top journals and in leading robotics conferences. I am driven to solve problems through collaboration and by developing new skills. I hope to leverage these experiences by contributing my leadership and expertise to the research and development of cutting edge robotics systems.
To date I have been the primary author on three publications: 2020’s “Magnetorheological Fluid-Based Flow Control for Soft Robots” in Advanced Intelligent Systems, 2021’s review paper “Hardware Methods for Onboard Control of Fluidically Actuated Soft Robots” in Frontiers in Robotics in AI, and 2022’s “Modulation of Magnetorheological Fluid Flow in Soft Robots Using Electropermanent Magnets” in IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters (also presented at ICRA 2022 in Philadelphia). An additional paper on controlling soft robots using electropermanent magnets is in the final stages of preparation at this time. Further details on these publications are available via the “Research” button below, where the papers may also be downloaded.
I am a passionate fan of music, an avid reader, and a lover of nature. I am a proficient guitarist (among other instruments) and an amateur gardener. I have a large collection of vinyl records with a particular emphasis on contemporary jazz and jazz-adjacent music. I spend too much time tinkering with my personal server and archive of digital media. I enjoy kayaking and skiing. I love cats. I drink a lot of tea.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions!
